day 41
zeia studio

the pitched roof came as a necessity towards the environment and still dominates the landscape in many of the european settlements where we live and work. nowadays it is no longer the only option, but when we design buildings, a pitched roof is almost always part of the discussion.
the roof is a way of disrupting the space as a box, an element that can create space without physically occupying it. a roof can define a center (1), it can create one space (2), once the pitch is annihilated it can become pure space (3), it can domesticate a piece of ground (4), or it can establish blurred boundaries between inside and outside (5).
